When football meets education

The Football for Schools (F4S) programme is an initiative of FIFA, in collaboration with UNESCO, initially launched in mid-2019 in Puerto Rico and Lebanon through different pilot projects around the country with the goal of promoting football through the educational system, in schools. It is important to note that the F4S Programme target children from 8 to 14 years old with the aim to understand that football is accessible to all without discrimination.

Mauritius benefit from this programme and FIFA has provided us with more than 1000 ball to promote this project in different regions across the island through pilot projects in our different schools. It is possible to do so through their school or community, using the facilities available in our schools in different regions of Mauritius.

This programme is to support the provision of football coaching and equipment to different schools and FIFA encourages its member’s association and in-country partners to recognize the importance of engaging with out-of-school youngsters.

On our side, we are still awaiting the duly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Youth & Sports and Ministry of Education so that we can proceed to start with our pilot projects which has already been planned to be done in several schools of our 13 regions around the country, including Rodrigues.
