An unprecedented final awaits

The 2025 Republic Cup final, scheduled for Sunday, 22 June 2025, promises an exciting and historic showdown between La Cure Waves SC and Chebel Citizen – two clubs eager to secure their first-ever national title.

This year’s edition of the Republic Cup presents a never-before-seen final, as neither club has previously lifted a national trophy. For both teams, the opportunity to make history adds weight to what is already a fiercely anticipated encounter.

La Cure Waves SC have continued their remarkable rise through Mauritian football by booking their place in the final after a dominant 5–0 semi-final victory over L’Entente Boulet Rouge/Riche-Mare Rovers.

In the other semi-final, Chebel Citizen battled past Petite-Rivière-Noire FC in a tightly contested 2–1 victory. The club from Beau-Bassin, who endured a challenging league season, showed incredible resilience and fighting spirit to keep their dream of lifting a first national trophy alive.

Despite being the underdogs, Chebel Citizen’s commitment and tactical discipline earned them their place in the final. Their supporters will be hoping this cup run becomes the turning point for the club’s long-term ambitions.

With neither side having ever won a national title, this Republic Cup final is guaranteed to crown a new champion. For La Cure Waves, it would be the culmination of a meteoric rise through the divisions in just two seasons. For Chebel Citizen, it could mark a hard-earned redemption after years of near misses and survival struggles.

All eyes now turn to Flacq, where history will be written on Sunday.
