Plaine-Magnien Star fall short but promoted

Plaine-Magnien Star has completed a commendable 2024/25 season in the Intermediate League, finishing in second place just two points behind champions Plaisance Peacock. Their efforts throughout the campaign have earned them automatic promotion to National Division Two.

The team from Grand-Port displayed impressive consistency over the course of the league season. With a balanced squad combining youth and experience, Plaine-Magnien maintained pressure on league leaders Plaisance Peacock until the very end. Despite falling short of the title, their consistent performances kept them comfortably ahead of the rest of the pack.

They approached each match with tactical discipline, effective teamwork, and a fighting spirit that reflected their ambitions of rising through the Mauritian football hierarchy. Several of their victories were marked by strong defensive organization and clinical finishing in the final third.

Going into the last day of the season, both Plaine-Magnien Star and Plaisance Peacock had already secured promotion to National Division Two. However, the title race remained undecided. Plaisance Peacock’s win over Moka Railway secured them the top spot, leaving Plaine-Magnien Star to settle for second place with a narrow margin of just two points.

This second-place finish still represents a significant achievement for a club that has long worked to build a competitive presence in Mauritian football. Their promotion to a national-level league is a testament to the club’s long-term development plan and dedication to grassroots football.

With their place in National Division Two for the 2025/26 season now confirmed, Plaine-Magnien Star is preparing for the next phase of their development. The club plans to strengthen its squad, invest in player fitness and conditioning, and enhance tactical training to adapt to the higher level of play.

Plaine-Magnien Star’s performance in the 2024/25 Intermediate League has been nothing short of impressive. Though they narrowly missed out on the league title, they achieved their primary goal – promotion. With a strong foundation and renewed ambition, the club will now look to establish itself in National Division Two and continue climbing the ladder of Mauritian football.
