Set-back for Tranquebar Dalton and RDR Star Knitwear

The 2024/25 National Division Two season has concluded with disappointment forĀ Tranquebar Dalton FCĀ andĀ RiviĆØre du Rempart Star Knitwear SC, as both clubs have officially beenĀ relegated to their respective Regional Football AssociationsĀ following underwhelming campaigns.

Despite flashes of promise in recent years, both sides were unable to secure the results required to maintain their place in the national second tier, marking the end of their current chapters in Division Two.

RepresentingĀ Port-Louis, Tranquebar Dalton FC had shown signs of upward momentum in previous seasons, spending two consecutive campaigns competing in Division Two.

However, the 2024/25 season saw a notable decline in form, with the team struggling to maintain consistency. A string of disappointing results, including costly home losses and missed opportunities against direct rivals, ultimately led to a finish in the relegation zone.

ā€œWe came into the season with high hopes, but it just didn’t go our way,ā€ said a club official. ā€œWe’ll regroup, rebuild, and focus on returning stronger through our regional structure.ā€Ā

Based inĀ RiviĆØre-du-Rempart,Ā Star Knitwear SC has long been a unique presence in Mauritian football. But afterĀ several seasons of battling mid-to-lower table finishes, the 2024/25 campaign proved to be a step too far. Finishing among the bottom clubs, RDR Star Knitwear failed to pick up sufficient points to survive the drop.

ā€œIt’s disappointing, but not the end of our story,ā€ said a spokesperson. ā€œWe’re proud of our identity, our roots, and the community we represent. Relegation gives us the chance to reset and develop new talent for the future.ā€

Relegation can be a painful blow for any club, but it also offers the opportunity for reflection, local focus, and sustainable rebuilding. BothĀ Tranquebar Dalton FCĀ andĀ RDR Star Knitwear SCĀ will now turn to their respective regional competitions to begin their fight back.
