Club M looking forward to the COSAFA Cup 2022 & African Nations Championship (CHAN)

After having been replaced by Sao Tome in the AFCON 2023 group stage after the new ruling given by the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) appeals board which has overturned the previous ruling in May 2022 decided by its own disciplinary committee, the Mauritian National Men’s team is now looking forward to two other continental showpieces, which is the COSAFA Cup 2022 and the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2022).

The draw for the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship Qualifiers has been conducted on Thursday, 26 May 2022 in Cairo, Egypt and the Competition will be held in Algeria. In this competition, Mauritius has been drawn against Angola and will play a two-legged match on the 24th of July 2022 and the 31st of July 2022, with the winner to meet either Comoros Islands or South Africa in the second and final stage.

For the COSAFA Cup, which will be held in Durban (South Africa), the Mauritian National Team will be in the group B with Lesotho, Malawi and Eswatini. The tournament will take place as from the 5-17 July 2022.

With a good record of participation in the both competitions (CHAN & COSAFA Cup) and being a long-time participant in African football competitions, the Mauritian National team wants to put all odds on their side this time and maximize their chances to reach the final stage of these two much-awaited tournaments.
