Women Football 4 Friendship Tournament
Since the 5th of July 2022, three National Teams of the Indian Ocean region, Mauritius, Rodrigues and Seychelles, are actually competing in a tournament organized by the Mauritius Football Association. After a long period without competition due to the COVID-19 restrictions, all three Women National Teams responded favorably to this regional tournament.
With all the games actually being held at the Côte D’or Stadium, the “Women Football 4 Friendship” is above all an ideal platform for the female senior players to showcase their talents, and by the same way, allow all football fans to discover the potential of women’s football in the Indian Ocean region. In fact, this tournament is giving us a glimpse of the next Indian Ocean Island Games in 2023, where women football is included in the official calendar.
In the first game, Seychelles came out with a 5-0 win over Rodrigues with a hat-trick from Natacha Bibi, probably on her way to the golden boot award. The second match also saw the Lady “Club M” winning 5-0 against Rodrigues, putting up a very encouraging performance. The goals for Mauritius came from Elodie Aliphon (2), Fiona Félicité (2) and Eva Pierrot. The last match of the “Women Football 4 Friendship” tournament, will see Mauritius Vs. Seychelles on Saturday, 9 July 2022 at 17h, at Côte D’or stadium.
