Women Football: Senior National Team Detection

With FIFA working to empower girls and women in Football, the Mauritius Football Association (MFA) is also investing in dedicated human resources and tailor-made development programme to bring our women’s football where it belongs. In this way, with a view to constitute a pre-selection of senior women’s national team, a first phase of the detection was held on Wednesday, 6th of April 2022 at the MFA with 48 players reporting to the first training session. Players aged 16 and above were called for this exercise where they had the opportunity to showcase their talents.

The Head Coach of the Women National Team, Anielle Collet and Assistant Coach, Cynthia Edouard, sent a strong message and expressed their desire to build a competitive squad for forthcoming competitions. For Collet, this will definitely require a disciplined and professional approach from both the coaching staff and the players.

After this first phase, more training sessions will be scheduled for the players to enable the coaches to assess them and identify the best talents in the group. Hence, the shortlist remains open with further talent identification to be done in Mauritius and Rodrigues.
