It’s four wins from four for Black Rhinos — and the Bois-Marchand side now stands as the undisputed frontrunner in the Intermediate League, the only team still boasting a perfect record. Their latest triumph, a resounding statement victory over Poudre d’Or ATC, has only strengthened their grip on the top spot.
Black Rhinos have hit the ground running this season, delivering performances as sharp as they are convincing. Their 5-2 dismantling of Poudre d’Or ATC — widely viewed as their first major test — confirmed what many already suspected: Mike Kayava’s men are playing like a team on a mission.
With 100% of the points secured so far, last season’s Pamplemousses Regional champions now emerge as overwhelming favourites for the Intermediate League title and a promotion to the National Division next season.
Behind the leaders, the gap has already opened. Flacq El Classico are doing their best to hang on, but even Milan Apollon’s squad find themselves three points adrift and feeling the pressure of a tightly packed chase group.
And with the second place also granting promotion, the battle promises to be fierce. Five clubs — St-Mirren Casernes, Rose-Belle Rovers, Olympique Souillac, Poudre d’Or ATC and Quatre-Bornes Swansea — remain tightly bunched, poised to pounce at the slightest slip from El Classico.
Further down the table, the chasing pack is already losing ground. Morgan Cascavelle can still cling to hope, but time is running out. For Trèfles Liverpool and Preston FC, the road ahead already looks steep.
As for Highlands Rangers and Blue Shadows, their prospects have dimmed considerably: both remain winless, and their chances of climbing out of the bottom appear to be fading rapidly.
With Black Rhinos setting a relentless pace, the chase pack will need to step up soon if they plan on turning the title battle into anything other than a one-team show. The pressure is rising, and the league is just beginning to take shape.
