FIFA SERIES 2026: Mauritius to host the competition in March

FIFA has confirmed that the FIFA Series 2026 will take place during the international match window in March and April next year, providing national teams from across continents with a unique platform to compete and connect beyond their usual confederation boundaries.

The FIFA Series aligns with FIFA’s Strategic Objectives for the Global Game (2023–2027), which aim to create more opportunities for competitive balance, technical development, and cross-continental exchange. The format offers national teams that rarely meet opponents from other regions a chance to gain valuable experience.

“The FIFA Series unlocks development potential for players, coaches, and fans, while promoting football’s universality and diversity through meaningful matches. The 2026 edition will strengthen that impact for both men’s and women’s football,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “By connecting nations through competition, the FIFA Series helps grow the game at every level and brings local communities to the global stage.”

While interest in participating continues to rise worldwide, FIFA has already confirmed the structure of the competition and a growing list of host nations.

The men’s FIFA Series will see matches hosted in Australia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, Puerto Rico, Rwanda, and Uzbekistan, with discussions ongoing with additional Member Associations that may join as hosts.

Each group in the series will feature national teams from different confederations in a friendly-match format, designed to encourage valuable footballing interactions without adding pressure to the international calendar.

For Mauritius, hosting matches in March offers a unique opportunity to showcase the island’s facilities, inspire local fans, and take part in a truly global football initiative.
