Individual distinctions. Rose, Jean-Louis and Collard: The proof by 3!

Mauritius have etched their name into the history of the COSAFA Cup with a remarkable performance in the 2025 edition of the tournament. In what is being dubbed “The Proof by 3,” Club M drew all three of their group matches — without conceding a single goal — and saw three of their players named ‘Player of the Match’ in each fixture.

This unprecedented feat marks a significant milestone for Mauritius, which has never before achieved such consistency at this level of competition since debuting in the tournament.

In their opening match against Zimbabwe on Wednesday, June 4, at Toyota Stadium, captain Lindsay Rose delivered a commanding performance at the heart of defence. Winning all his duels and keeping the opposition at bay, Rose earned the tournament’s first Player of the Match award for Mauritius.

“After this difficult match, I dedicated this Best Player trophy to the Mauritian people and my teammates. Go Mauritius!” said the captain following the goalless draw.

The second group fixture, played on Saturday, June 8, also at Toyota Stadium, saw goalkeeper Kevin Jean-Louis take center stage. With several key saves and a composed performance, Jean-Louis helped Mauritius secure another 0-0 result — this time against Mozambique.

“I dedicate this trophy to my family, to all those who believed in me, and to the Mauritian people,” he said.

Finally, in the last group match against hosts South Africa, Dylan Collard was singled out by COSAFA’s technical committee for his outstanding contribution at the back. The match ended 0-0, completing a trio of clean sheets for Mauritius.

“Thank you, it was a team effort. I am very happy with these three clean sheets and these three matches. I would like to thank COSAFA for this tournament, and see you at the next edition,” Collard commented.

While Mauritius did not progress beyond the group stage, their campaign has been widely praised for its defensive solidity, discipline, and unity — earning them respect across the region. With three points, three clean sheets, and three individual accolades, Club M may not have lit up the scoreboard, but they certainly made their presence felt.
