The MFA pays tribute to late Sir Anerood Jugnauth

This saturday 15th october was marked by a special tribute to late Sir Anerood Jugnauth at the MFA.  On this occasion, a football match  was held between the All-stars Mauritius Football team and the All-stars Police Football Team in the presence of Lady Sarojini Jugnauth , as Chief Guest and honorable Tania Diolle, Parliamentary Secretary who received a warm welcome from MFA president Mr. Samir Sobha and members of the managing committee. 

The event in memory of the former honorary president of MFA  started with a women’s football match between the players of the Lady Club M  and the MFA High Performance Centre U20 Girls Team which ended in a 2-2 draw. It was during the penalty shoot-out that came the outcome in favor of U20 team with a 4-2 win. Then the guests and spectators were convene to the Sir Anlerood Jugnauth memorial shield between Ex-Mauritian football players and Ex-players of the Police Football Team.  We saw in action several former Mauritian football glories such as  Saleem MoosaNirmal Rewa and Cyril Mougine amongst others.

At the final whistle, officiated by the international Referee Imteeaz Heeralall, the Mauritius all-stars and police veterans team were separated by 5 goals scored by Gilbert BayaramWesley Laboucherie and Sakoor Boodhun. After the match played in a friendly atmosphere, Lady Sarojini Jugnauth presented the trophy to the winning team, represented by the ex-international player Shyam Oodut.  A shield was also offered to Lady Sarojini Jugnauth by the MFA , being honored by her  presence at the seat of the football federation.The chief guest concluded her first visit at the MFA Headquarters by a tree planting ceremony of the Tarrena Borbonica, endemic to both Reunion island and Mauritius.
