TEAM MAURITIUS U-20 AMONG 12 PARTICIPATING COUNTRIES IN THE COSAFA CHALLENGE CUP 2022 TO BE PLAYED IN ESWATINI
The COSAFA Men ‘s U-20 cup will be the 28th edition of this African zonal challenge cup, an international youth tournament open to national associations of the Cosafa region.
This competItion is also a pre-qualifier for the AFCON 2023 to be played between 18th February to 12th March 2023 in EGYPT as the 2 finalists of the Cosafa cup are directly qualified for the next phase which opens opportunities for Olympic 2024 qualifications.
This year the Cosafa U-20 cup will take place between 6th and 16th October in Eswatini with the participation of 12 teams, comprising Mozambique the defending champion.
According to the calendar the 22 matches of the tournament are scheduled in two selected venues, Somhlolo stadium & Mavuso stadium. Mauritius is in group A which consists of host nation Eswatini, Botswana and Zambia. Our U-20 players will face Zambia in their opening match on the 7th of October. Mauritian players are aware of the challenges ahead and have prepared to give their best during this tournament, in line with the tactical choices of their head coach Twaleb Fatehmamode.
All the matches of the Mauritian team will have a special attention on the MFA FB page through COSAFA.TV platform during the 2022 edition of the U-20 Cosafa cup which will be of a great interest for football fans in the region.
