Technical Partnership between the Mauritius Football Association & S.L Benfica

Following the signature of a Partnership Agreement with Sport Lisboa e Benfica (SLB) in October, a delegation from SLB arrived in Mauritius in the morning of Friday, 19th November 2021. On the same day, a press conference was held at the MFA House to present the project and how this collaboration will benefit the local football in the long term.

The S.L Benfica Delegation was composed of;

• Mr. Miguel Reis, SL Benfica Network Operations Coordinator – Global Expansion,

• Mr. Davide Gomes, Innovation, Development and Project Management – Youth Football,

• Mr. Francisco Silveira Ramos, Benfica Technical Director assigned to the Benfica/MFA Technical Partnership.

 

The President of the Mauritius Football Association, Mr. Samir Sobha, pointed out that this partnership will definitely contribute in transforming the environment of football in Mauritius and by the same time, reaffirmed the commitment of the MFA to consolidate the Youth structure of local football and continue with the implementation of the Professionalization of Football in Mauritius.

Through this agreement, several opportunities will be offered by S.L. BENFICA, such as;

• Young players and youth teams will have the opportunity to be assessed in Portugal by Benfica;

• To invite youth teams to participate in S.L Benfica tournaments in Portugal;

• To allow our young players to register in the Benfica International Elite Program;

• To encourage youth teams to participate in Benfica Campus internships and other proposed projects.
